Romania’s Re-emerging Role as Strategic Partner in the U.S. & European Affairs

Dr. Peter Gross, a specialist in post-Communist Europe and media studies, is a prolific writer whose books include Entangled Revolutions: Media and Democratization inEastern Europe and Media Transformations in the Post-Communist World: Eastern
Europe’s Tortured Path to Change among several others. He served as the Director ofThe University of Tennessee School of Journalism & Electronic Media and as theGaylord Family Endowed Chair at the University of Oklahoma. Multilingual, Dr. Gross worked and traveled extensively in Europe and in former Soviet Republics, in Asia andCuba. He lectured and directed journalism seminars at Oxford University, U.K., andmany other universities in Germany, Lithuania, Madrid, Spain, Belarus, Albania, Romania, Georgia, Poland, Hungary, Montenegro, Austria and China.
Dr. Gross taught at the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute and at the U.S. Information Agency. His research has been supported by Harvard University’s Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy, the JFK School of Government, the National Academy of Sciences and the Open Society Foundation. He is the recipient of the Secretary’s Forum Distinguished Public Service Award from the U.S. State Department. The University of Bucharest conferred its highest honor of awarding Dr. Gross the Doctor Honoris Causa for his contributions to higher education in Eastern Europe and received the Order of Merit from the State of Romania. Former Research Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, he holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
The price for the luncheon is $40 for members, $50 for non-members and $35 for full-time students and military personnel in uniform. There is a $10.00 discount for early registration that ends at noon Monday February 19. The buffet luncheon will open at 11:30 AM. Dr. Gross will speak and take questions from the audience from Noon to 1 PM.
