Brad Lomax didn’t start out to be a visionary, It just happened through his hard work, dedication, and passion for doing the right thing.
Beginning in 1983, with the opening of the Water Street restaurants, he kick-started downtown revitalization in Corpus Christi, when few would take the risk. What started as one seafood restaurant has grown to include an entire block in downtown Corpus Christi, with great food, wonderful entertainment and a true authentic vibe, that has greatly contributed to the tourism industry while enriching the local’s quality-of-life.
In 2005 he founded the Texas Surf Museum, which explores the history of surfing in general, and showcases the Lone Star State’s unique place in that history. Brad co-founded the SINK YOUR SHUCKS program in 2009, the first in Texas.. This program recycles oyster shells from restaurants and returns them to our local water, providing the base structure necessary to form new reefs and habitat for fish, crabs and other organisms. This program has restored over 15 acres of oyster reefs in the Corpus Christi and Aransas bays. To date this program, managed in conjunction with the Harte Research Institute, has recycled over one million pounds of oysters.
A self-proclaimed surfer rat, Brad has a deep appreciation for the Gulf of Mexico and it’s natural resources. The GROW TEXAS OYSTERS movement is a natural progression for this entrepreneur and leader., who respectfully values our natural resources, not for profit, but for protection.
