A distinguished thought leader and prominent banker, Mr. Gabe Guerra, comes to us to share his expertise on analyzing our economy as the nation goes through transitions impacted by global upheavals. With an astute grasp of local and regional economy, he is sought after nationally for his leadership navigating institutions through challenges towards prosperity. He currently serves as President & CEO for Kleberg Bank and as a Commissioner of the Port of Corpus Christi. Previously, Gabe served as Regional Vice President (RVP) of Indirect Lending for the 12 State Central Region of the United States for Wells Fargo Bank. He spent the first five years of his career with Ford Motor Credit Company in Austin and Dallas.

Gabe has been extensively involved in civic activities supporting jobs, education, and quality of life in Corpus Christi, the state, and the region.  In January of 2022, the Corpus Christi City Council appointed Gabe to his first three-year term as Commissioner of the Port of Corpus Christi Authority.   In January 2022, Gabe was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas San Antonio Branch Board of Directors, serving as the sole representative of the coastal bend region.  He was previously appointed to serve on the Federal Reserve Bank’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) and Regional Bank Council (RBC).  In 2019, Gabe was elected by his peers to serve as a Director of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT), the largest state community banking organization in the nation.  Gabe was elected Secretary of IBAT at the organization’s convention in September of 2024.  In 2021, Gabe was elected by his Texas peers to serve as a Federal Delegate Board Member of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), the nation’s leading advocate for the Community Banking industry across America.

Gabe has served as Past Chairman and director of the following Corpus Christi boards: the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC), Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Coastal Bend, Del Mar College Foundation, and Lexington on the Bay Museum.  Gabe was instrumental in leading the efforts to merge the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce into a unified chamber representing all business members of our community.

Gabe Guerra received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and he is a graduate of the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas.    Gabe is a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi Class 37. He currently serves as a Director and Chairman of the Christus Spohn Health System.  He is an Eagle Scout and past Chairman of the Board of the South Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
