Representing Texas Congressional District 27 since 2018, the Honorable Congressman Michael Cloud has played a pivotal role in highlighting the crucial role the Port of Corpus Christi and three other seaports of South Texas plays in the economy of the State of Texas and of the world in general. He will address the WACST luncheon on the importance of our ports to the prosperity, promise and potential our city’s and regional economy and business. Critical to global economy and the future of the Unites States as the leading economic power, the Port of Corpus Christi and ports of South Texas are increasing in status and influence around the world as strategic to energy exports and follow of oil and gas. The role the U.S. and the Congress plays at this pivotal time is timely and significant. Mr. Cloud will speak to this role.

Representative Cloud was first elected in a special election in 2018. His time in office has been marked by helping to shape the nation’s economy and maintaining strong national defense. He has been actively involved in working with Veterans and with the all-important House Appropriations Committee. He is also active on the Subcommittees on Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, and on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies. He is among the few Members selected to serve on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability’s Select Committee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Prior to his Congressional service, Hon. Cloud was a small business owner. He graduated with a B.S. degree in mass media communications from Oral Roberts University where he was active on cross country and track teams. He chaired the Victoria County Republican Party from 2010 to 2017.
