Roy Casagranda, PHD

Dr. Roy Casagranda, author of The Blood Throne of Caria, is the Professor of Government at Austin Community College. Dr. Casagranda received a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies with an expertise in Middle Eastern Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin. For more than 25 years he has been teaching with an multidisciplinary approach and has established a record of research at the intersection of politics, history, economics, psychology, and philosophy. From 2010 to 2012 he wrote regularly for Merhnameh, a leading Tehran-based reformist socio-political monthly on US and Arab politics and history until the magazine was shut down by the Islamic Republic. He also wrote on Arab Spring for several other publications including the Austin American Statesman and TODO Austin. He lived in Germany, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria and the U.K. and speaks German and Arabic.
