Lessons from the Holocaust & the Korean War

A Survivor’s Story

December 13, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 12:15 pm

Dr. William Samelson, a professor and author, will share his memories and analysis of the Holocaust and of the Korean War – an appropriate and contemplative theme for this blessed holiday season. He is a veteran of the Korean War with the USA Third Army and has been a prolific speaker around the country and on college campuses addressing the need to remember the past to prevent future human catastrophe. He was born in Poland and at the age of 11, and was interned in several Nazi ghettos and slave labor-death camps for six-and-a-half years. Liberated on May 1, 1945, by the U.S. Army, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1948. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has taught in several universities and colleges across the U.S. and abroad. He has written extensively on the Holocaust and continues to lecture on topics related to it.

Dr. Samelson’s many published works include books All Lie in Wait, One Bridge to Life, and Warning and Hope. He will have books for signing and for sale at the event

The buffet luncheon will open at 11:30 AM. Dr. Samelson will speak and take questions from the audience from Noon to 1 PM. The price for the luncheon is $35 for members, $45 for non-members and $27 for full-time students and military personnel in uniform.
