Blake Hastings was appointed Vice President in Charge of the San Antonio Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, on January 16, 2007. His responsibilities include all functions at the San Antonio Branch with particular emphasis on enhancing the branch’s outreach activities. The San Antonio branch processes nearly 800 million currency notes per year serving the over 350 financial institutions in the Central – South Texas Region. Prior to his joining the Federal Reserve, he served as Executive Director of the Free Trade Alliance of San Antonio for five years after having held various other positions with Alliance since July 1995. The Alliance is San Antonio’s public-private partnership for the promotion and development of international trade and foreign investment. While at the Alliance, Hastings was involved in several high profile trade advocacy efforts including passage of the Central American Free Trade Agreement and Trade Promotion Authority. Additionally, he led the Alliance’s efforts to develop innovative programs like an incubator of smaller foreign investors and enhanced use of the city’s Foreign Trade Zone. From 1994 to 1995, he was employed as Export Sales Manager at Dorian International, White Plains, New York where he oversaw the export of commercial foodservice and laundry equipment to Northeast Asia. Prior to that, he worked at the United States Trade & Development Agency, 1992 to 1994 as an Evaluations/Regional Assistant for Asia-Pacific. Mr. Hastings holds a Masters Degree in International Business from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, German, and Spanish.
