Dr. Robert Bezdek
|
- Went to schools in Corpus Christi
- B.A. from St. Mary's University in San Antonio (1964)
- Served in the Peace Corps in Colombia, South America (1965-66)
- M.A. & Ph.D. in Political Science from The Ohio State University
- Was a Fulbright Scholar on two occasions (1973 & 1990-91) to study democratic development in Mexico
- Lectured for the American Embassy at Universities throughout Mexico
- General Chair of Leadership Corpus Christi VII.
- Charter faculty member at Texas A&M-CC (started in 1973)
- Interviewed regularly by local and state media
- Expert witness for MALDEF in federal court in 1993 on challenging the three at-large positions for electing city council members in Corpus Christi
- In 2001 he was the sole consultant for redistricting the Nueces County Commissioners precincts as well as the single-member districts for the Corpus Christi Independent School District
- Selected as a Regents Professor for Distinguished Service by the Texas A&M University System in 2002
- Went to Mexico to study the 1994, 2000, and 2006 presidential elections
- Has publications on democratic development in Mexico and on U.S. elections
